EDB- The Coffee Connector

“Let’s grab coffee” often means more than just coffee. It signifies the start to relationships, opportunities and business decisions. In Asia, Singapore often facilitates connections between companies and successful business ventures with a wealth of resources. Our machine, the Coffee Connector, is this symbolic idea brought to life. This is one of the most exciting pieces of tech, relevance and design brought to life. Client, agency and partners have worked collaboratively to bring to life a piece that broke the ice in various conferences. Agency: TSLA Production Partners: TellArt Client: EDB

We've done up various sketches, explorations, inspiration for the Coffee Machine Design. We were careful not to make it overtly futuristic- looking - whilst at the same time, maintaining a warm/progressive/interesting nature.

Early stage user flow:  We've tried and tested different ways of integrating "social" elements into the machine. However, after testing and iteration - we've found that the simple idea of connecting two people together is the best approach.

Early stage designs prior to rendering in 3D:  Different assets required different production factors. We had to get help from 3D artists to render a glass vessel that matched the physical pipes that were seen on the machine. Effects that required video and animation were coded in AfterEffects. The entire system ran like a local web-based application.

Final Pieces:  A lot of the final components were simplified.  Testing it amongst real people was a huge learning experience for us. We were delighted that people were happy with the result.
